Emerging dance artist James Welsby presents HEX, a new contemporary dance work that asks how the generation born during the HIV/ AIDS crisis can comprehend its impact on contemporary queer identity. Armed with humour, reverence and intense sorrow, HEX unfolds in a series of intimate, choreographed vignettes.

Combining contemporary dance with queer club performance, HEX provides an experience of both celebration and reflection, a vision for what contemporary activist performance might look like in 2014.

“[Welsby's] choreography is a tribute to those who have been lost, but also a celebration of the community they shaped, and which continues to grow. It is a powerful work.” The Guardian
