Next Wave is excited to welcome delegates of the 2014 IETM Asian Satellite meeting to Melbourne, and our biennial contemporary arts festival.
In partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne and the Australia Council for the Arts, IETM Asian Satellite in Australia gathers performing artists, professionals and funders from three continents to increase international understanding, collaboration and engagement. After six annual IETM Satellite Meetings in Asian countries, and four years of intense collaboration between IETM and the Australia Council for the Arts, this meeting will bring together knowledge gained and contacts built, adding new people and new perspectives to the dialogue between the regions.
The meeting takes place at Arts Centre Melbourne, 100 St Kilda Road Melbourne, VIC 3004, Australia. For up to the minute information regarding the Satellite visit the IETM Website: http://ietm.org/melbourne
Cultural exchange between Australia, Europe and Asia
The IETM Asian Satellite meeting creates a rare opportunity for Asian and European artists/professionals to connect beyond their local practices and networks. In addition, the meeting brings together the three key groups in the field of international exchange: the artists, the presenters/producers/intermediaries and the funders. Participants will be engaged in a dynamic exchange of expertise in collaboration in an international context, provided with practical information, tools and ideas on how to empower the contemporary arts sector, how to support emerging artists etc. The location of the meeting in Australia – culturally connected and active in both Asia and Europe – will encourage all participants to consider the diversity of contexts in which they work and to engage in the exchange of political, economic and cultural information.
We wish to create an open atmosphere where everybody’s voice is heard and with ample room to meet. Newcomers will be made particularly welcome and attention will be devoted to creating an environment where people can connect, despite their diverse backgrounds. Various types of platforms for interaction will be on offer and those in need of language support will be accommodated.
If you are a delegate you will have received an email offering you some complimentary tickets to Festival shows. This email explains the process for booking these tickets. If you have lost this email or would like to receive it again please email the Australia Council.
