My Bullock Modified is a sitespecific interactive sculptural work based on narratives of early conflict between Aboriginal landowners and European squatters in Australia. Using a 3D app, audiences can interact with virtual roaming bullock sculptures spearing the cattle as they graze in the foyer of the Melbourne Museum.
My Bullock Modified challenges notions of ownership through the performative retelling of historical events. By re-framing the biased histories of our nation, the project presents a new narrative of settlement and liberates Aboriginal people from being a ‘lurking menace’ to colonisation.
